Think beyond the paycheck: Why Career Doesn’t Define the Man
If your job disappeared tomorrow, would you still know who you are?
In the men’s group I lead, we inaugurate each new member with a question that catches most guys off guard:
“Tell us a little about yourself—without telling us what you do for a living.”
Tough question. I know.
But when you take work off the table, it leaves many men unsure of what to say. I remember the first time I answered—I said, “I’m a dad.” And after that? I struggled.
That moment revealed something important: for many of us, what we do is deeply tied to who we think we are.
